Scope

Repair versus replacement

Surfacing sewage and backups into the house are failure signs. They do not, by themselves, name the fix.

This is an independent referral guide. It connects homeowners with independent providers and may receive compensation. It is not a licensed contractor and it does not do the work.

Signs that the system is in trouble

Sewage backing into fixtures, wet or smelly ground over the leach field, a tank that fills again immediately after pumping, and a distribution box that is broken are reasons to get an evaluation. They are not a diagnosis from this website.

The county application has a substandard repair path when the proposal cannot fully meet the ordinance. That path needs a variance section explaining why full conformance is impracticable. It is not a shortcut you can assume.

Questions on this service

Does a repair skip percolation testing?

Not always. The form says system replacement is based on a health certificate or percolation data. Ask which basis the contractor is using.

Describe the failure

Say Fallbrook, Bonsall, Pala, or Rainbow, and whether sewage is backing up or the ground over the field is wet.
